The BRally Amazon 2021 edition

The BRally Amazon is an adventure to discover the Amazon Rain Forest, taking place over 20 days and covering 500 nautical miles into the Amazon River, from the Delta to the heart of the Amazon, discovering the secrets of the river, the forest and its people.

The event offers a mix of cruising in company and free time to explore the region. The pace of the BRally allows the boats to remain together and enjoy group activities on land or in the privacy of their crew.

The fleet will be accompanied by an infrastructure composed of private security, mechanics, medical and logistics staff, as well as cultural and gastronomic events created especially for this adventure.

The adventure

Our adventure begins on October 27, 2021, on Marajó Island, the largest marine-river island on the planet, located in mounth of Amazon River.

We will be welcomed in the city of Soure with a festive welcome dinner, where we will have the opportunity to get to know a part of the Amazon where flood fields predominate, extensive mangrove forests, and an ancestral culture marked by the Marajoara people that inhabited the island between the years 300 and 1300.

From Marajó, we will continue to Belém, the metropolis of the Amazon, where we will be able to explore various cultural aspects, with a special chapter dedicated to Amazonian gastronomy. Not for nothing, Unesco awarded Belém the title of Creative City of Gastronomy.

Then, we will continue navigating the Gulf of Marajó, to the south of the island until we reach the Estreitos de Breves, a complex system of channels that make up a large part of the 2,500 islands of the Marajó Archipelago. Here we will meet the riverside dwellers, who live on the banks of the rivers of the Amazon. We will visit their villages and experience their extraordinary generosity when welcoming us into their communities and homes.

Our route continues towards Gurupá, then Almeirim, then Prainha, until we reach Monte Alegre town, where we will visit the MA State Park, known for its caves and prehistoric rock paintings, among the oldest archaeological remains of the Amazon region, around 11.200 BP.

Our adventure ends in Alter do Chão, a region known as the Caribbean of the Amazon. On the banks of the Tapajós River our adventure ends with a festive dinner in the local fashion, based on Amazonian fish, with the so-called Piracaia.

We require that all boats carry safety and communication equipment, which, in general, are already requirements of the navigation authorities.

The participating boats must have a minimum length of 9.14 m (30') and engines capable to move at a minimum speed of 6 knots, so that the fleet can sail together and so that the boats can carry an adequate amount of water and fuel for the 500-miles course.
